New Canaan is a suburban community in Fairfield County, with a population of over 19,000. Canaan Parish was originally set up in 1731 as a religious entity comprising northern portions of Norwalk and Stamford. The town of New Canaan was incorporated in 1801.

Oxford, Connecticut
Oxford used to be a very rural town with a moderate farming population. However, in the past few years, there has been a large influx of upper-class suburban families that moved into the area. Most of these families, according to local newspapers and statistics at Oxford Town Hall, have moved from extremely affluent towns in lower Fairfield County. They have discovered Oxford's relatively reasonable housing market and natural beauty in comparison to their former towns, thus build $600,000+ homes in Oxford. This has fueled Oxford's decision to build a new high school of their own.
Redding, Connecticut
Redding is a small, largely rural community of nearly 9,000 people, situated in the middle of Fairfield County. Famous for its efforts to protect open space, the town has many thousands of acres of woodlands and fields, including land associated with reservoirs serving Bridgeport and other south-county cities and towns. The town has little commercial property, except for the old Gilbert and Bennett Wire Mill in the Georgetown section. Redding has two state parks: Putnam Memorial Park on Route 58 was a winter encampment for colonial troops during the Revolution and remnants of campsites can still be seen. Huntington State Park on Sunset Hill Road and Top Stone Park are excellent for hiking, mountain biking and cross-country skiing.
Ridgefield, Connecticut
Ridgefield is an old and handsome community of 22,000 people in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains in west-central Fairfield County, Connecticut.
Wilton, Connecticut
Wilton, a town of some 16,000 people just north of Norwalk, is suburban community of rolling hills that were for more than two centuries farmland. Today it is home to many executives, writers, artists, and musicians. It is also home for such corporations as Deloitte and Touche, Perkin-Elmer, Barry Blau and Louis Dreyfus Corp.
